Teranishi Chemical Industry, the Osaka maker behind the much-loved Guitar Taisho Roman Haikara ink line, designed this notebook as the perfect writing companion. The cover arrives in rich jewel tones with gold foil embossing, drawing on the spirit of Japan's Taisho era, a time when the word haikara ("high collar") came to mean everything stylish, refined and modern.
 
Inside, the paper is made with fountain pen users in mind: a generous 95 g/m², notably heavier than most Japanese notebooks on the market, with a smooth surface that lets the nib glide freely. It opens flat for comfortable, uninterrupted writing, dries quickly and resists bleed-through beautifully.
